One issue from the employer perspective regarding these new industry initiatives, however, is the shortage of technically proficient personnel to fill workforce gaps. Some programs have been established with money from companies and foundations in partnership with government funding to create more streamlined training programs for tomorrow’s tech-savvy workers. Reed Tech Chief Information Officer Dave Ballai spoke to The Philadelphia Inquirer about the company’s connection to ITWorks, a program in Philadelphia and Delaware that has helped train underfunded youth for technical jobs.
